“Why” is operated by Manual, Inc. (“Company,” “we,” or “us”). Why is a social networking service that allows you to engage with users and curated content to help you get to know other users. This Privacy Policy describes the personal information that we collect when you use Why or visit our website (collectively, the “Service”), how we use and share that information, the choices you have, and how you can contact us if you have questions or concerns.

Information you provide to us may include:

  • Account and profile information, such as your login information, first and last name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and any other information you add to your profile on the Service.

  • Connections, posts and chat messages, including any users you connect with on the Service and any content that you post, such as when you respond to questions and engage with other users within private or group chats or journeys. 

  • Communications that we exchange with you, including when you contact us with questions, feedback, or otherwise.

  • Marketing information, such as your preferences for receiving communications about our services, and details about how you engage with our communications.

Automatic data collection. We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your interaction over time with our Service, such as:

  • Device data, such as your computer’s or mobile device’s operating system, manufacturer and model, browser type, IP address, unique identifiers, language settings, mobile device carrier, and general location information such as city, state or geographic area; and

Information we collect from third parties.

We may also work with advertising partners to advertise our Service on the internet and we may use information about users to help us and out third-party partners identify other potential users who may be interested in our Service.

You may opt out of our marketing-related communications by following the opt out or unsubscribe instructions contained in the marketing communication we send you. We may continue to send you administrative communications that are necessary for our relationship with you, such as relevant updates to our policies.

Personal information requests: You may request the following in relation to your personal information: 

  • Information about how we have collected and used personal information. We have made this information available without having to request it by including it in this Privacy Policy.

  • Access to a copy of the personal information that we have collected. Where applicable, we will provide the information in a portable, machine-readable, readily usable format.

  • Correction of personal information that is inaccurate or out of date.

  • Deletion of personal information that we no longer need to provide the Service or for other lawful purposes.

We do not discriminate against individuals for exercising their rights. Data Security

We employ a number of technical, organizational and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we collect. However, no security measures are failsafe and we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information.
